We presently create 13 release artifacts for Openfire. Four of those artifacts (two RPMs and two windows EXEs) contain bundled Oracle Java 1.8-202 that are stuck on that version due to licensing issues.
While a "batteries included" approach is handy for many users to use Openfire, it is a bad from a security perspective and for sustainability to bundle JREs and we should not be in the business of distributing these.
