The admin console has a page that shows the caches used by Openfire. If a cache usage is ineffective, this is shown on that page.
Sadly, the way that ineffective caches are highlighted is very subtle (I suspect this was unintentional, a result of CSS changes).
Ineffective cache usage should be highlighted prominently.
